2012 MSAA POLICY MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

The MSAA 2012 Policy Meeting took place on January 14th, at Michaels Resturant, St. Cloud. The following items were highlighted:

New MSAA Super Senior Classes

New classes for men and women over 65 years of age were added and can be competed in this year. Super Senior Freestyle and Bowhunter Freestyle (SSFS & SSBHFS) are the new designations. All MSAA Division, Class, and equipment rules apply.

New Non-competitive Guest Class

New classes for guest shooters were added, one class for males and one for females without regard to age. Guest are not required to be MSAA members but must pay regular tournament fees and late fees if applicable. Guest are not eligible for MSAA awards. Guest results, if published, will be listed separate from competitive results.

Welcome Midwest Archery

New affiliate Midwest Archery, in St. Michael, came on-board this last week and the association welcomed them. Governor Chad Levos has been working with them. Midwest will hold a Regional both weekends and this is a great benefit to the association and the shop.

New Whitetail Bales

With President Buechner’s leadership the association has made an unprecedented swapping out of the Saunders matt bales for new Whitetails. These bales should be a significant improvement and hopefully will alleviate pass-through arrows. At the Indoor there will be at least 30 new Whitetails on the line.

Indoor Lifetime Membership Raffle

A Lifetime Membership will be raffled off to support the MSAA Scholarship benefit. The scholarship is intended for those members with a history with the MSAA who are graduating from high school planning to attend a post-secondary institution. The value of this membership is $300, and could be worth far more depending upon the age of the raffle winner. Please look for this at the Indoor.

Vice-President Elections

The association is happy to announce that some new faces are taking over at Bowhunter Vice-President and Field Vice-President. Mike Fitzpatrick, a longtime Governor, is taking over as Bowhunter VP and Heath Glassburn, also a Governor, is the new Field VP. Congratulations to these gentlemen and a great thank you to Roger Ekert and Kim Jenniges who both made the MSAA and its members a passion of their lives. Kim’s attention is turning homeward where she will be working with her local school board while Roger has committed to a Governor at Large position. Roger will focus on Governmental Affairs, where he has represented the MSAA and archery in the state very well in the past. Roger will also continue his work with youth programs and along with his wife, Jan.
