Cheri shot this deer on September 17th, 2006, her first deer ever!

In Cheri's own words:

It was nearing sunset, and the sun was glazing over the bean field and grass pasture close by.  The cold southwest wind was starting to let up, thank God!  I thought maybe I should grab my bow and hold it for a while, just in case.  All of a sudden the deer came in right under my tree.  I got a quick glance at him, and saw at least 3 points on each side and thought he looked pretty good.  I quickly put my release on the string and pulled back.  He was walking so I tried to get him to stop by making a few noises, but he kept on going.  When he was about 20 yards out and quartering away I shot the arrow.  We tracked him for 3 hours and then lost the blood trail.  The temperature was suppose to be in the 40's that night so we planned to come back in the morning.  We found him about 40 yards away from where we had stopped tracking the deer the night before and about 250 yards from my stand, and what a surprise to find out he had 9-points instead of the 6 I had thought he had.  I was very excited and happy!
